My art work is being exhibited at the Grassy Noel Gallery in Teaneck, New Jersey as part of the Whimsical and Macabre show that is up until November 27. I have a combination of iPad prints as well as paintings that use my iPad images.
[A couple of days after the exhibit opened we experienced Hurricane Sandy in this area. We had a lot of devestation in New York and New Jersey, and many places are still without power, food and water. If you would like to make a donation of any amount go to Redcross.org]
Halloween will be here before you know it, so I am trying to draw some of my favorite horror movie actresses before the big day arrives. Maila Nurmi was, I think, one of the first people to combine a horror and pinup personna together. Her Vampira character was campy and funny way before Elvira hit the horror scene (in fact, Nurmi tried to sue Elvira for stealing her act). Who are some of your fave Horror babes?
I am experimenting with the new Hipstamatic Rock the Vote free pack. This free pack contains two films plus one case. One film includes a border around the image and the other film includes random sayings relating to voting. You cannot pick which saying goes onto your picture or the location of the words. I will have to try experimenting with it more with different subject matter. I picked the glitter skull because I was looking for a Halloween themed still life, though it seems kind of strange with the text that it adds to the picture. I used the Salvador lens which gave it the multiple exposures in the image.
This is a portrait of Carolyn Jones as Morticia Addams from the TV show “The Addams Family”. She is probably one of my favorite TV moms of all time. I wonder how many little goths she influenced with her floor length black gowns.
I used Inkpad, PicGrunger and Sketchbook Pro to put it all together and add the spiders. I wanted to give it an old, antiqued look, as if you could almost smell the musty scent of old books and papers.
