We made our yearly trip to Cool Scoops ice cream parlor in Wildwood, New Jersey. This is one of our favorite places to go in Wildwood not only for the ice cream but for the walls of memorabilia. Cool Scoops is truly like a mini museum of pop-culture artifacts.
Every year that we go there are brand new things to look at. This year I was amazed by the decorations in the ladies room which included a hair dryer and a mystery date game. We also liked the Les Paul guitar that was hanging in one of the rooms. Each room has at least one item or photo that brings back happy childhood memories of toys, places or music we loved!

I’ve just returned from a short vacation in Wildwood, New Jersey. I am organizing my thoughts and photos and will be posting more this week!
Last week I went to see The Dark Knight Rises and I was surprised that I really liked Anne Hatheway as Catwoman. She played the character differently than the other actresses in the past have played her. She was very elegant, especially during the Costume Ball scene, on which I based my Inkpad drawing. I have read several articles that have compared her style in this to Audrey Hepburn’s. My favorite Catwoman portrayals are from the camp 1960’s TV show, especially Eartha Kitt and Julie Newmar. Who is your favorite Catwoman?
This is a self portrait taken with ToonCamera and then edited with the Halftone app. I am thinking of creating a new avatar for use with various sites like Twitter and Instagram. I really like using ToonCamera and Halftone together because they really compliment each other. The result reminds me of a trading card. I will probably modify it to add my Twitter name, blog or QR code instead of the date.
This is an acrylic painting based on an Inkpad drawing that I created on my iPad. I printed the image and transferred it onto a 5 x 7 inch Aquabord by Ampersand. I used an acrylic varnish by Golden on the image to use it as the “underpainting”. I worked on this painting without looking at my original drawing for reference. For my next painting I will try to photograph the steps so that I can create a tutorial.
