Portrait of Marie: Experimenting With Paint Viscosity in ArtRage

Marie For JKPP

In this portrait of Marie for Julia Kay’s Portrait Party I was experimenting with the thickness of the paint and how different brushes effect it. I was influenced by one of Julia’s portraits where she used the “paint tube” brush to apply the color. In this one I also applied the color using the paint tube and smoothed it out using the oil paint brush and the palette knife. I also tried using the square brush setting of the oil brush and that achieves another look. I like to use the more textured canvas setting and leave some of the texture showing through the paint.
