Adventures in HipstaLand: The Caribbean Motel in Wildwood

The Caribbean Motel, originally uploaded by Ritaflo.

This summer we traveled back through time to the Caribbean Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey. The Wildwoods are known for their Doo Wop architecture and the owners of the Caribbean Motel went to great lengths to restore the motel. In addition to the “Jetson’s” ramp and palm trees by the pool, I loved the kitchy, retro decor in our room and the Cabana.  The atmosphere by the pool at night is magical, as the multi-colored lights from the neon reflected on the water.

One of our favorite places to visit in Wildwood is Cool Scoops, a retro ice cream parlor which is a mini museum of kitchy toys and rock & roll memorabilia.  We also visited the famous Boardwalk where the rides light up the sky.

I thought the Hipstamatic app would be perfect for capturing the timeless quality of the Wildwoods.
