A reinterpretation of a Modigliani painting imagining what it would look like if he used an iPhone instead of oils. Created using Brushes, Sketchbook Mobile and Magic Brushes apps on iPhone.
I just got Toonpaint and I’ve been experimenting with using it with other apps. I started with the basic black and white picture from Toonpaint. Next I used Brushes to add some color. Next I went into Sketchbook Mobile because there is one brushstroke I love to use to add texture to the background. After that I went into Vihgo to get the canvas effect. Using Textdraw I wrote out “i saw the sign..” Finally I went into Layers to import the picture of Mr. Krabs that I created using Vellum.
I referred back to a drawing a did a while back of Leonor Fini. I was kind of just fooling around with Brushes and Sketchbook Mobile to try out different “brush strokes”. After finishing the picture I went into Vihgo and was randomly picking different effects and came upon this one. It gives the image a three dimensional effect and a depth that I couldn’t achieve with the other apps. I created this right before going to be and I think that sometimes being a little tired lets me take some chances that I might not have taken otherwise. Please comment if you find that you have a time where you are most creative.
Week 46: Time travel, originally uploaded by Ritaflo.
This is a mashup of a photo taken with the Hipstamatic Photo app and painted with Brushes. I created it for the group “iPhone/iTouch painting a week on an assigned subject” The subject this week was “Time Travel”. I couldn’t really come up with a literal picture of “time travel” such as a time machine. This is a little more abstract. Its about looking at objects around the house and remembering the time when they were new, where you were at that time of your life. This little “head vase” brought back memories of my mom. I used to collect head vases and salt & pepper shakers. Back in the days before Ebay my mom would go to flea markets and antique shows throughout the year to find the special items that I collected and give them to me for my birthday or Christmas. As I’ve been taking pictures of the objects they’ve brought back long lost memories of a time in my life that seems a million miles/years away.
I love the new Hipstamatic app. Since getting the app on New Year’s Eve I’ve been using it every day. I’ve been wandering around the house looking for objects to photograph. I like the unpredictability of the app – I really don’t know what the photo will look like until after it has “developed”. This is a photo of a Jackie O head vase that currently resides in my kitchen.
