Art Every Day – Truth of the lines

Truth of lines, originally uploaded by Ritaflo.

This was created using an original graphite drawing on paper with gold oil paint (drawn back in the 90’s). I scanned in the drawing and used the Layer App to create this collage.

Art Every Day Month – What time is it?

What time is it?, originally uploaded by Ritaflo.

Digital Collage using Brushes, Layers and Photostudio

What time is it? Do you have the time? Is it time to go yet? Where does the time go? It’s about time. Time is on my side. Time keeps ticking away. The time is now. Time.

Red Tricycle

Red Tricycle, originally uploaded by Ritaflo.

Photostudio and Brushes on iPod Touch

I was walking through town last week trying to get some pictures of the leaves before they were all gone. I came across this house with the little red tricycle on the porch. I wondered whether it was left there by a child after taking it for a ride or was merely a decoration placed in front of the red door.

Art Every Day – The Beach at Cape May

The Beach at Cape May, originally uploaded by Ritaflo.

Created on iPod Touch using Photostudio and Brushes.
After doing so many fall scenes I had decided to “go back to the beach”.   I wanted to give this a more painterly look by using larger brushstrokes.  I’m not really sure about the color scheme yet because after using all of the reds, yellows, and oranges for the fall scene this looks very subdued.

Art Every Day – Self portrait with collage

Self portrait with collage, originally uploaded by Ritaflo.

Another self portrait using the updated Layers App. I was really excited about the update because you can change the size of the photos you use for the collage elements.

Art Every Day – Self Portrait or Avatar?

Self portrait with star, originally uploaded by Ritaflo.

There was a time when i painted a lot of self portraits out of necessity – i couldn’t really afford to pay models. Then i totally removed myself from the equation when i started doing mainly landscapes. Some might say, though, that the artist is always present in their art no matter whether it is a landscape, still life, or abstract painting.

Since joining Twitter and Flickr I’ve been thinking about how a person’s avatar represents the artist to the world. I’ve read articles on “branding yourself on Twitter” and how your choice of avatar is very important to whether people will follow you and take you seriously as an artist.

I created this self portrait/avatar using a photo taken on my mac with Photo Booth and modified with Sketchbook Mobile, Layers and Photo Finish.

Art Every Day – The Red Tree

Red Tree, originally uploaded by Ritaflo.

Last week I took a walk around town trying to get some photos of the leaves before they all hit the ground and are blown away. I found this little red tree – usually I like to have a house in the picture but i really liked the way the sidewalk trails off.
